| In my last entry, I talked about the upcoming end of the school year, and the mixed emotions that it brings. You'd think that I would have found the time to post another entry, perhaps a follow-up to the previous entry, in which I would discuss my summer vacation. But no. Staying true to my slacker self, I let most of the summer go by without so much as a word about anything. So, here we are in August, and pretty soon I will be able to write about the upcoming start of the school year. Yes, it has been that long already. It really should come as no surprise seeing as how just two weeks after the start of summer vacation merchants began promoting "Back-to-School" sales. Jeepers creepers, give me at least SOME break from it!
As mentioned in my previous post, unlike last summer, I went back to working full-time this summer. The money was pretty decent (and much needed), and the work itself wasn't bad at all. However, there were many days that there was next to nothing to do, so the time was spent sitting at the tables in our make-shift office planning lunch at 10am and watching the time go by. BORING! Yeah, there were many things that I could have been doing with my time, and sometimes it killed me that I was stuck there doing nothing on a gorgeous summer day, but what can ya do? Fortunately, I am working with some awesome people this summer (with the exception of one kid who is a major tool and who irritates the crap out of me), so we usually manage to share some laughs and make the most of our time. But, as of this coming Friday, my summer job will be no more, and then I will begin the all too rapid descent towards the first day of school. My goal is to allow myself a few days of R & R, doing some things that I enjoy, and then I will get back into my school/teacher frame of mind. Fortunately, I already have my first week of school planned, so I'm heading in the right direction.
| As another school year comes to an end, I find myself asking, "Self, where did the time go?" The answer: "Who the hell cares! What really matters is that it's almost over." No, seriously, I can't believe that we are almost finished with another school year. There were many days this year that I thought it would never end. Working with the PM School (society's misfits and delinquents) has been one stress-filled day after another. My one class during the regular day school was, for the most part, my saving grace, but that had it's moments too. Somehow, I managed to get through the curriculum, wrap things up, and prepare for and administer a final exam. Every year, I find myself wondering, "Did I do enough? Did I miss anything?" This year is no different. Actually, there were a couple of things that I didn't get to this year that I have covered in years past. Oh well! There's always next year.
And speaking of next year, I was psyched to learn that I finally get to teach one prep. For all of you non-teacher types out there, that means that I am teaching all English 9's. Why in the world would I do that to myself you ask? Call me crazy (CRAZY!)-Great song by Gnarles Barkley, by the way-anyway, call me crazy, but I actually prefer the 9th graders. Yeah, some of them are pains in the ass, but once they mature a little bit they're okay. [At this point, Jenn Windsor is laughing out loud saying, "Girl, what are you thinking? Freshmen don't mature! And the boys? Well, freshmen boys are ICKY!"-- I know, Jenn, I know.] Also, it's going to be important for me to get to know the freshman class well, because once they are sophomores I'm most likely going to be their class advisor. Yes, that's right, I signed up to be the sophomore class advisor. The end of this school year found vacancies in the positions of Freshman advisor and Sophomore advisor. My friend Gloria (yes, I think I've got her number) signed up to handle the Freshman class, so I'm going to work with the Sophomores. It's not a ton of work (no prom, no major trip) and it will be fun to work with one of my friends. Also, it's a few extra bucks in the paycheck every week. w00t!
Ahhh, paychecks. In just a few short weeks, I will see the last of that dying breed until September. Welcome to the days of pinching pennies and staring longingly at the on-line banking screen just wishing that one more direct-deposit would show itself.
But have no fear, because the summer job is here! Last summer was one of those rare occasions that I didn't have a job for the months of July and August. The only reason for that is because I was busy wrapping up wedding plans, and then we were traveling for our honeymoon. This year, however, if I wished to stay married, it was imperative that I find a job and earn my keep. So, I did just that. You are "looking" at the newest addition to Oswego County's Temp Payroll. I am going to be working as a Summer Youth Counselor. There's a county youth program which places kids in jobs for the summer, and my job is to keep track of some of those kids, visit their job sites, check up on their progress, and act as liaison between them and their supervisor if problems arise. It pays pretty well too.
All in all, I'm ready to be done with this school year, and I'm actually looking forward to the summer job. I know some people who have done the same job in years past, and they all said that it's one of the best summer jobs to get. Here's hoping they're not lying to me!
| I know, I know. I haven't posted a blog entry since March 1st. That's just crazy. Most of you have probably stopped coming to my blog, because you know what you'll find: The same gorgeous photos of Matthew Mc. that have been there since March 1st. Is there anything wrong with that?
Anyway, I don't know where I've been. I guess life has just gotten in the way. However, I figured that if my good friend Freddie-bear could shut down his blog, and then a short time later create a new one under a new name, then I could at least have the decency to post a new entry. So, here is my new entry. Pretty anti-climactic, huh? Sorry to disappoint. I'm not promising anything, but I'll try to maintain things a little bit better.

| Well, I clarified the last profile picture, and there was a request made that I change my picture to something more like seub74's picture. Ask and you shall receive. I'm hoping that my new picture will be met with more pleasure and enjoyment. By the way, anyone want to go to Matthew's new movie Failure to Launch. Regardless, you can count on me being there to drool with the best of them. Man he's HOT!
I'm sorry that my latest blog entries haven't been about anything exciting or scholarly. My life has been pretty ho hum, same-old same-old lately. I'm back to my daily grind, and that's about it. The kids are acting like themselves (crazy lunatics), and I'm trying to maintain my sanity. That's pretty much it. Oh! We're going out to dinner tonight with Hurlbutt (he's leaving tomorrow for Florida for a few days), and I'm pushing for The Press Box. Mmmm....Slaw Burger....mmmm.
